Their First House

When our young clients purchased their first home, they always knew they would find a way to transform its builder-grade feel into something elegant, eclectic, and comfortable.

The homeowners had great pieces and bold ideas. They hired us to pull everything together and make it a show-stopper.

We started in the guest bedroom and worked through their living room, dining room, two offices, and primary bedroom. And the story isn’t over yet: they’re expecting, and we’re starting on their nursery next month.

The Living Room

The vintage Noguchi table is the real deal, found on Chairish, and it was theirs before we arrived. We matched it with secondhand scores of our own: the Article leather sofa, a set of Arhaus and Bernhardt chairs, the lamps. All high end, none bought new. My favorite find in the space is the vintage rug; it’s unusual and beautiful.

The Dining Room

Those are the chairs Instagram went wild for. The homeowners found them on Facebook Marketplace before we ever showed up, and the vintage Turkish rug came from Marketplace too. We framed art they already owned and hung it just so to finish out the focal point.

Her Office

This room sits just off the dining room, in view of the front door, and we wanted to build something bold. She’s a big reader who works from home, and she needed a place for every book and a comfortable chair to land in. It really invites you in, doesn’t it?

The Primary Bedroom

They came in with the bed and the nightstands, both already fab. We gussied up the bed wall with preloved bedding and a really nice pair of secondhand lamps, sourced the black-and-gold painting from a favorite local artist, and hung a vintage orange rug around the corner to finish out the moment.

The Guest Bedroom

This is where the whole project started. The homeowners picked the pink themselves, and it set the tone for everything that followed. Nearly everything else came secondhand: the vintage nightstands, the lamps, the drapery, much of the bedding, and the print above the bed.

His Office

He works from home too, and he wanted one room that could handle both the job and the music. They already had the navy sofa, so we color-drenched the whole room to match it.

It’s a first house that doesn’t feel like a starter home anymore. It feels like theirs, from the pink guest room to the navy office, and it’s ready for whatever comes next.
